A: Yes, you need to apply to be an ASAP Sitter using our online application form. You will then go through our prescreening process which includes an interview, reference check, and nationwide criminal background check. After you submit your Sitter Application, you will get an email with further information.
A: You get paid directly by the families you babysit for. You have to agree on a rate with them beforehand. Your rates should be entered in your profile, so families know what to expect before requesting you.
A: Our babysitters negotiate their own hourly rates. The ranges are generally based on the number of children they will be caring for and other factors such as distance. Our maximum ratio for referrals is 1 sitter to 5 children (usually for group jobs such as weddings or special events). The average rates for our sitters are:
1 Child: $12-15/hr
2 Children: $15-17/hr
3 Children: $17-19/hr
4 Children: $19-20/hr
5 Children - $20-25/hr

A: No. Families should not contact you directly. Sitter Requests should always be directed to ASAP Sitters. Please let us know if a family ever tries to contacts you directly as it is against our policies. Failure to do so will result in your ASAP Sitters account being closed.
A: From your home page, click on the "my account link".
You account profile page will be displayed. Under the main menu, click on "edit" and then click on "sitter profile".
Remember to edit your profile as soon as something has changed.
A: From your home page, click on the calendar image in the center of the page.
Your calendar will be displayed. In the day on your calendar, click on the link "Add availability time".
A form will be displayed for you to enter the time, for the day you clicked on. You can change the day by clicking in the date field. A calendar popup window will allow you to simply enter a new date. To change the time, double click in the time field(s), and use your keyboard arrow keys to change the time.
Please note that you can only enter a time period of 24 hours or less. The calendar won't let you enter a period of more than 24 hours. When you enter a time period that crosses midnight, remember to change the "date to" to the next day.
Please enter your maximum availability. If you enter 11p as your end time, families that need a sitter until 11:30p won't see you as available.
A: Yes. On the same form, below the From and To dates/times, there is a repeat option. Click on the repeat period to set if the day you've just entered will repeat daily, weekly or monthly. Then click on the "until" field to set the date at which the series will end.
For example if you are available every Friday of the month, on your calendar, click on the first Friday, enter the times, and in the repeat section, click on "weekly", and in the "until" field, enter the last day of the month.
When you are done, click on the "Add availability" button.
A: Yes. Go to your calendar page, and click on the day in your calendar that you want to remove. On the small popup window that's displayed, click on the button "remove ONLY THIS DAY from the series".
You can also edit the series and enter "exceptions" to the repeat rule.
A: To edit a standalone day (that's not in a series), on your calendar, click on your name for that particular day, and a popup window will be displayed. Click on the button for what you want to do with this day.
A: There are 3 ways for you to know a family has requested you to babysit:

A: After you accept a referral, you'll receive an email with the family's contact information. It is your responsibility to call the family for a Check-In Call © before every job. For normal requests, please contact the family within two (2) business days of receiving their info. For short notice referrals, please contact the family as soon as you are able.
A: You usually have 12 hours (nighttime excluded) to accept an online request from a family. However, families can ask several sitters for the same job. The first sitter to accept is confirmed and then other sitters can no longer accept the job.
During that time, you'll receive 3 emails reminding you that you have to respond:
And finally if you don't respond, you'll receive a 4th email saying that the request is no longer offered to you.
Remember that families should not contact you directly about your availability. Sitter Requests should always be directed to ASAP Sitters. Please let us know if a family ever tried to request you directly as it is against our policies.
A: On the same form as the Accept form, enter a reason, and click on the button "Decline". You should update your calendar frequently to avoid having to decline.
A: You shouldn't be canceling a confirmed booking unless you have a sudden personal situation. We ask that you provide at least 24 hour notice. Same day cancellations are only acceptable in cases of an emergency.
If you can't cancel online, you need to always let us know when you have to cancel a confirmed booking. If you cannot keep a commitment to a job for a reason such as illness or emergency contact ASAP Sitters as soon as possible.
If you do have to cancel, please do so as soon as you know. To cancel, from the right-side menu of your home page, click on "Sitter Bookings List".
Then on the right-side menu, click on the "Confirmed" link. The list of all your confirmed bookings will be displayed.
When you click on the cancel link, a form will require you to give a reason:
