Hello There :) My name is Carolina and I am 24 years old. I am originally from Peru, but I moved to beautiful Virginia 13 years ago and I currently live in Loudoun County. I have a degree in Psychology and Spanish, which I graduated on December 2013. I love working with kids because their policy in life is just having fun and enjoying every moment which of course keeps my inner kid alive! I have a big extended family filled with cousins and nieces/nephews and that is where my interest started for childcare and led me to start babysitting and helping out in community shelters with free childcare. Due to my experience with babysitting many kids I also can help out with homework, and tutor in any subject and even teach Spanish which I speak, write and read. In my free time I love to bake, read, and spend some quality time with my loved ones. Well I am glad that you know a little bit more about me and look forward to meeting you and your little one/ones.
Hello! My name is Jamie and during the weekdays I work as the Events and Development Coordinator for Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. In this role, I manage the logistical planning and execution of D.C. and northern Virginia signature fundraising events that help grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
I graduated George Mason University in 2014 with a degree in Tourism and Events Management and also earned graduate credit in Child Development through the University of Northern Iowa in 2015.
Before working with The Make-A-Wish Foundation, I held multiple positions working with children! I worked at a non-profit foster care agency called For Children’s Sake of Virginia where I recruited amazing foster families and assisted in placing children in homes. I was also fortunate enough to work as a preschool primary caregiver in a Child Development Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as well as in Stuttgart, Germany through Army Child and Youth Services. Through this experience, I gained full security clearance through the U.S. military to work with children and am comfortable working with infants to teenagers.
Lastly, I worked as a Camp Director from 2012-2013 through the Fairfax County Rec-PAC program and helped managed over 50+ campers ages 5-12. I am comfortable with large groups of children, small groups, and of course, individual!
In my spare time, I enjoy planning trips as well as volunteering with the United Service Organizations (USO) and helping to grant wishes as a wish granting volunteer through Make-A-Wish. I am an avid traveler and have been able to visit over 25 new countries in the past two years. I am currently learning German and Spanish and looking to MAYBE take on French. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio!=)
My name is Sarah and I am 27 years old. I am originally from Texas, but now I call northern Virginia home. I love to travel and meet new people. I served as a Peace Corps volunteer for two years in the rural village of Aygepat, Armenia. While in Armenia I worked with the village's mayor to build a community center and build after-school and adult education programs. I have a M.A. in International Administration and a B.A. in International Relations and Geography. I work with youth as a Program Coordinator at an educational company. As a Program Coordinator I plan, implement, and manage youth leadership conferences for a range of ages and interests. I am interested in babysitting in the area because I have some extra time and I love working with children. I have experience working with children in diverse settings including babysitting, camps, conferences, and teaching. I have experience caring for infants, toddlers, and older children. I am experienced at caring for multiple children at once. I am available for jobs throughout the NOVA area and Washington, DC.
